The South Yorkshire Police Band are delighted to announce the signing of a new principal cornet in time for Butlins.  Leisa Mallelieu joins on the hot seat from Grange Moor and has also previous experience with Yorkshire Co-op and Flixton.

MD Leigh Baker said "I'm delighted to secure Leisa's services. She impressed me at Grange Moor and her fantastic cornet sound and top technique is the real icing on the cake for the Police band. We're all very excited about 2011 after a string of excellent results in 2010 and this is a big boost for the band."

Sally Howley also joins the band on Flugel. Sally was also a member of Grange Moor and has bags of experience with bands such as Yorkshire Co-op and Flowers. "Sally is a lovely player who has the "Howley sound" (alongside husband Michael) and is another great addition to the band".

Due to a holiday committment the band are also welcoming BBb bass legend Gordon Eddison to the Butlins team. Gordon was a member of Hammonds Sauce Works Band bass section and is a highly respected conductor and teacher.

Due to dental work Helen Tomlinson is taking a short break from the second baritone chair. The South Yorkshire Police Band are pleased to draft Michelle Brown (ex Stocksbridge solo baritone and sister of SYPB solo baritone Louise Wrigglesworth) in from retirement to fill the seat superbly.

"We are starting the year with such a strong team and welcome these quality new players to the ranks" added Leigh.
