South Yorkshire Police Band recently lined up some banding stars to assist in their preparation for the Yorkshire areas.
Some of banding's most talented musicians lead sectionals on "mountain views" ahead of the band's appearance in the first section at st George's Hall on march 4th.
Rob Westacott, Mark Walters, Mike Kilroy, John Ingman (ex brighouse bass trombone) and James Brincat Smith (Carlton Main and ex Grenadier guards percussionist) worked with sections of the band and MD Leigh Baker was delighted with progress made.
"To benefit from the expertise of these world class musicians really inspired the band. Great strides were made during the afternoon and the full band rehearsal that followed the sectionals, showed real potential"
The band are also to delighted to add 2 new players to the ranks.
Claire Jenkins (ex City of Sheffield and Carlton Main Frickley) joins on soprano and Claire Westacott (ex Hammonds) takes the flugel chair in time for the areas.
"These 2 very high quality signings further strengthen our line up for the 2012 season" added Leigh Baker.
