CD review

 This weekend has seen the band fully committed to its latest compact disc recording. Led by MD Leigh Baker, producer Mick Howley and sound engineer Ben Marshall, the band has taken over the new hall at Aston Fence Junior and Infants School. The facilities are amazing and the band has really enjoyed the venue and today’s experiences.

Success at the Yorkshire Area Brass Band Final

The culmination of weeks of hard work for the band paid off today, with our 2nd place result at the Annual Yorkshire regional brass band contest in Bradford. This result now takes us forward to the National Finals at Harrogate on Saturday 25th September 2010.

Butlins 2010 - 3rd place success

The Band is celebrating its third place success at the annual Butlins Brass Band championship. After weeks of snow, cancelled rehearsals and lots of commitment, the band performed the test piece Folk Music by Keith Wardle. The piece consists of three movements : Spirits,Secrets and Settlers.

An entertaining finish at Bolsover

The band has just returned from an enjoyable day out at the Bolsover entertainments contest.

Summer reign comes to an end

Marched up to the top in Yorkshire

 The band has just concluded a successful march season with a parade at an international football tournament at the Keepmoat Stadium, Doncaster. Organised by local Police the event featured Adult and junior football teams with special guests from Spain.

A week to the Yorkshire Area Contest

Well the week before the Yorkshire Area Finals is here. That annual event that sees brass bands enthusiasts listen to the same piece  of music being played by about 17 times.  Only brass bands could do that, and they charge to get in too!

2008 - Year end review

January

The band had a quiet start to the year and some uncertainty over a replacement conductor continued.  Leigh Baker and Ian Scott were taking rehearsals. April and Michael Farthing registered with us from Thurcroft. Martin, the third Farthing arrived on bass later in the year.
