The band regularly enters brass band contests in their various forms;

• Yorkshire Regional Contest (Area) to qualify for the National Finals.
• Set & Own choice test piece contests.
• Entertainment Contests.
• March Contests.

The band is currently in the second section and achieved a respectable sixth position at the Yorkshire Area this year against some strong opposition. After being relegated from the 1st section the year before and having to rebuild after losing some key players this will make a strong foundation from which to build through 2009 and hopefully move up the places in 2010.

The band has entered several contests during 2009 the first was Butlins at the start of the year followed by the Area contest. During the summer we are looking to compete at Easingwold and Brighouse march contests. Later on in the year the band will be looking for more success at the Wilkinson Contest where we have previously been crowned champions.
