Doncaster Salvation Army Concert.

Last weekend, 27/09/08 we performed with a guest soloist, Andrew Shires along side Doncaster Ladies Choir at Lakeside Community Church to raise money for Doncaster Salvation Army's Football fellowship.

In our own part of the programme we played:

Justice With Courage - our signature piece and South Yorkshire Police's motto.
Misty - a flugelhorn solo played soulfully by April Farthing
Sparks - a xylophone solo played by the nights guest soloist Andrew Shires from Sheffield citadel salvation army
Ragtime For Horns - as you have guessed, featuring our tenor horn section originally written by Scott Joplin
Great is Thy Faithfulness - arranged by Simon Wood
and to finish the first half of the concert we played a medly from the very well known Star Wars.

We kicked off the second half with:

Star Lake, a Salvation Army march written by Eric Ball.
We then carried on to play:
An Untold Story - a tenor horn solo played beautifully by our principle horn player, Mark Taylor
Next was a great duet "the Two Imps" played once again by Andrew Shires with the addition of our very own tuned percussionist, Michael Farthing.

After a short break for the choir to sing we went on to play Deep Harmony arranged by our musical director Leigh Baker.
I will Follow Him, the famous track from Sister Act
The band finished off with Drums of Thunder from the Windows of the World Suite which went down a treat with the african chant/drums and a big finish

This event raised in excess of £700 for the cause and monies are still being collected.

Many of the audience expressed how much they enjoyed the evening and the fact that the programme hosted a wide variety of music to cater for all musical tastes.
